Roger Williams Park Zoo Our Big Back Yard Exhibit

Yoder + Tidwell Project - Fall 2009 thru 2011
Project Team: David Tidwell, Jessy Jakulevicius, Samuel Hogg, Greg Rebis

After the completion of the Vet Hospital, I joined the team working on a new exhibit area focused on animals native to New England. The concept that the team developed was establishing a visitor center that represented home. The exhibit space became the visitors’ shared “big back yard” that showcased the wonders of our local natural environment.

It includes Our House, an indoor activity space, and The Nature Swap, a special place to trade items that you’ve collected when out exploring nature. Our Backyard, the ultimate play space, is staffed by specially trained Play Partner volunteers to help you make the most of the “The Drip Drop Water Garden,” “The Sticks & Stones Building Zone,” and “Creativity Corner.” Then explore the nature trail Beyond the Fence and wend your way to the CVS Caremark All Kids Can Treehouse packed with things to touch, hear, smell, and see.
